
As a percussionist, timpanist, and drum set performer, Steven Blutman has performed on 6 continents, in over 50 countries, with some of the world's finest ensembles. Steven received a graduate degree from The Cleveland Institute of Music and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Hofstra University. During his years of study, Steven was under the tutelage of the Principal Timpanist and Principal Percussionist of the Cleveland Orchestra, Mr. Paul Yancich and Mr. Richard Weiner.
Mr. Blutman has been a dedicated music educator on Long Island for the past 8 years. He currently serves as a "BOCES Artist in Residence" for the East Meadow School District, and is the percussion coach for the "Nassau-Suffolk Performing Arts." In 2007, Steven was a guest clinician with the Hofstra University Percussion ensemble, and guest lecturer for the CW Post percussion methods class. He has also coached marching band drum corps for the East Meadow, Hewlett-Woodmere, and Elmont school districts, and has been a coach for the Long Island Youth Orchestra. Steven has adjudicated for the NYSSMA festivals and coached at All-County rehearsals across Long Island. He is also an active clinician and private instructor throughout the New York area.
Steven's active free-lance career highlights include performances and tours with the Cleveland Orchestra throughout the United States and Europe, as well as, in their home at Severance Hall and summer residency at the Blossom Music Festival. Over the past several seasons, Steven has also performed with the Honolulu Symphony, Canton Symphony, Mansfield Symphony, American Chamber Ensemble, Long Island New Music Ensemble and other varied ensembles. In the summers of 2004 and 2006, Steven was a percussionist for the AIMS opera orchestra in Austria, and served as Principal Percussionist for the Youth Orchestra of the Americas in the summer of 2005, which toured South America. Mr. Blutman was also a featured percussion soloist with The Cleveland Institute of Music orchestra on "Mandala,", by Margaret Brower, while enrolled in the school.
As a drumset artist, Steven started as a rock drummer, performing and recording with the band "Zero Tolerance." After studying jazz as an undergraduate, Steven has performed with numerous jazz big bands, jazz combos, Latin ensembles, show productions, and orchestra pops concerts. He currently performs with the "Free Style" jazz quintet in NYC.

Steven Nugget, a top bass trombonist in the New York area, is a graduate of The Manhattan School of Music, for both his masters and bachelors degrees. Besides Steven's accomplishments as a young professional on the Bass Trombone, he is also a skilled brass instructor. While studying at the Manhattan School of Music, Steven studied with the bass trombonist from the metropolitan opera, Steven Nurrell, and David Finlayson of the New York Philharmonic. Steven has also been an active participant and performer in master classes with some of the finest musicians in the field. His diversified career has taken him across the globe, as he has performed professional and educational concerts in over 30 countries on 6 continents.
Since Mr. Nugget completed his schooling, he has been an active low brass teacher on Long Island. He has taught all levels and age groups, including each level of NYSSMA training, public school and college audition preparation, and large brass master classes. Along with his private students, Steven has done part-time teaching in the East Meadow School District, and sectionals/coachings for the Manhattan School of Music preparatory program. Steven has become an expert in adapting the different teaching styles that he has been trained on from the best in the industry, in order to cater to the individual needs of his students.
As a performer, Steven is currently engaged as the Principal Bass Trombonist of the Philharmonia of the Americas, which performs at Lincoln Center. Mr. Nugget also performs frequently at Carnegie Hall with local orchestras and other major performing venues in NYC. A few of the many ensembles Steven performed with include the American Symphony Orchestra, PINACHE Brass Quintet, NYC Trombone Quartet, and the New England Chamber Ensemble. Steven was a featured soloist with the Idylwild Orchestra at Disney Hall in 2006.
Mr. Nugget has also worked as an active jazz musician in NYC as well. He has performed with the Duke Ellington Tribute Big Band, Al Grey Big Band, varied combos, Latin Big Bands, and reading ensembles. Steven's ability to perform both classical and jazz music makes him a very well-balanced, high demand Bass Trombonist.
